Lost Campers proudly sponsors the Ogden Music Festival & Utah Festival Camping!

Lost Campers Salt Lake City kicked off the summer by sponsoring the 9th annual Ogden Music Festival. Ogden is a lovely city about 40 minutes north of SLC. This event is presented by the Ogden Friends Of Acoustic Music every year, or as we Utah locals like to call them…OFOAM.   The festival is growing in popularity each year and we here at Lost Campers were excited to show our support. OFOAM has a mission to expose local youth to acoustic music and traditional instrument playing. The event flourished with families and fun as a variety of great bands played for the 3 day shindig held at Fort Buenaventura State Park along the beautiful Weber River. This is Utah Festival camping at it’s best!

I, my husband and 8 year old son worked as a family team and set up a Hotel Sierra camper van in the vendor row to show festival goers how fantastic campervan rentals are for music festivals! Rae Rae the van stirred up curiosity from everyone there. As no could resist the charm of our cozy camper van, we met loads of wonderful people and volunteers of the festival. It was so cool letting people know about Lost Campers and what we do.

Volunteering & Utah festival Camping

One of the things I thought to be truly awesome about the Ogden Music Festival is that the entire thing is volunteer based. People from the community and surrounding areas pour their hearts into this event. There were excellent food vendors and the local brewery, Roosters was serving up some cold ones. There was excellent camping on site in the State Park along the river. Also, an entire area along a lovely fishing pond was dedicated to fun and music education for kids that included an “instrument petting zoo” where kids can get their hands on any instrument they are curious about, get their faces painted or throw down some competitive bean bag tossing. There was also a booth to make your own washtub base instruments that my son absolutely loved.  A bunch of kids got on stage and played their hand made instruments with the Hogslop String Band for the big crowd on Saturday, it was awesome! Along with the music, food and handmade jewelry booths there were places to ride your bike and walk along the river.  On the second day they held bike races for various age groups!

With so many great vendors at the event, I of course had to check out what everyone had to offer and I discovered some fantastic local artists and companies. One of my favorites was Outdoor Gangster, a local Ogden based outdoor hand printed apparel company. These guys were super cool and I absolutely love the T-shirts we purchased from them. Through their apparel company they promote a love of nature and the outdoors. They have a website and fun blog  that is definitely worth checking out: outdoorgangster.com
