Joshua Tree National Park is a beautiful desert area with much to offer by way of outdoor adventure. Located in Southern California just 2.5 hours east of Los Angeles, this National park offers world class rock climbing, breath taking night skies and plenty of hiking. Beautiful Starry Nights in Joshua Tree
Stargazing– Bring your telescope or binoculars to enjoy the amazing starry skies over Joshua Tree. During the winter the sunsets early around 5pm at night giving you loads of time to enjoy the stars. In Winter the constellation Orion can be enjoyed and with a telescope or a pair of binoculars you can observe the Orion Nebula in Orion’s sword. You can also enjoy the brightest star in the night sky, Sirius.

Rock Climbing There are over 8000 climbing routes to choose from in Joshua Tree with varying experience levels to choose from. This area is famous for it’s traditional crack, slab and steep face climbing. On Saturdays and Sundays 8am-10am from mid- October through May you can head to Hidden Valley Campground for “Climber’s Coffee”. This is an ongoing event that offers a toasty free cup of joe and an opportunity to speak with a Climbing Ranger with any questions you may have about the routes in the area. This is a great way to get savvy on safety and recommendations for your climbing level. Hiking and Photography There is an extensive network of trails throughout the park that offer varying levels of difficulty. On nearly any trail you take you can find sublime photo opportunities so be sure to bring your camera and a sense of adventure. If you plan on backpacking in overnight, be sure to register on one of the parks 13 back country boards. This is for you safety and should be taken very seriously. Remember that you are in a desert so be prepared, check in at the visitors center for up to date park information, warnings and closures. Check the weather report and make sure you carry plenty of water, hydrating snacks and first aid. A safe camper is a happy camper.
