Girls Road Trip Ideas #1: Paso Robles, CA

This lovely little town is located smack dab between San Francisco and Los Angeles which opens up a large array of itinerary options to include along the way from either starting point.

It is famous for it’s variety of local wineries and the laid back feeling there (maybe that is all of the wine causing this feeling? who knows?). The Salinas River divides the East and West side of the valley. On the West side of the river you will find smaller family owned wineries and wine boutiques. On the East side you will find the large resort style wineries that offer food pairings and entertainment.  This is a charming place to spend a day or a few days walking around and wine tasting with the girls. It is not far off Highway 101 and makes for a great detour on a ladies coastal adventure.

Nearby camping options include:

Cerro Alto Campground and Morro Bay State Park, both can be found on www.reserveamerica.com for more information

Among the red cliffs of Moab, the Colorado River flows through beautiful Castle Valley. This is also where you can find Castle Creek Winery, located at the Red Cliff’s Lodge. Enjoy wine tasting and food parings with the incredible back drop of rock rocks and the rushing Colorado river. Moab also has some lovely local breweries (Moab Brewery make the best Fat Tire ever!)  and local shops along the Main Street in town. There is loads of great hiking, biking and river running to do in these parts. Between Arches, Canyon Lands and Dead Horse Point you will find plenty to do and even more to add to your bucket list for later.

Near by camping options:

Arches National Park, Canyonland National Park, and my personal favorite- Dead Horse State Park. For more information check out discovermoab.com
